What is rheumatoid hand deformity?

Rheumatoid hand deformity refers to the physical changes that occur in the joints of the hands due to the progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Types of rheumatoid hand deformities

  • The fingers are pulled towards the little finger due to damage to the tendons and ligaments.
  • Common in the wrists and knuckles, this condition leads to misalignment of the fingers.
  • This occurs when the middle joint of the finger bends backward (hyperextension), while the tip of the finger bends downward.

I hail from Sydney, Australia and had some severe wrist pain with a couple of lumps. I wasn’t able to get best medication in Sydney and ended up reading great about Dr Karn. So went to him and I had a wrist surgery done for a ganglion cyst and schwannoma(very painful) in March 2024. Technically, it should not be painful but due to some reason it was. Dr Karn did a great job in surgery and later told me that schwannoma was near my wrist bone which caused the pain. Bhavesh and Manisha were great nurses who helped me in my surgery and regular dressings. There was 1 another lady nurse and she was so helpful too.
